Board Pillow Talk with Romain Cloitre

Photos and Questions : Ludovic Lasserre
How many boards you are using this year?
I use about 25/30 boards in the year , the 5'9 to 6'1, plus a quiver of 8 or 10 boards to hawaii from 5'10 to 7'4.

You're not going to surf Waïmea?
There are plenty of boards in the house where I stay, so, I do not control for my quiver, but when I need, I take one.
And on all these boards, you've broken how many this year?
It depends, I would say between 5 and 10 , it is very fluctuating. You can spend a long time without breaking, and then one day, one session, do you spend 2 or 3, you do not know why.
Reference your board?
5'10, 18 1/8, 2 1/8, single concave, round square, mounted on future purposes.
Quattro's you surf?
No, I never had quattro , I use as thrusters on future purposes, and voila!
Is what you have preferences in terms of concave?
I often have single concave, with square tail, that's what I surf the most. At Al Merrick, there are plenty of models, the sudden you can not just surf. But it still allows me to vary and to try a lot.
When you find a board that works, how do you explain that if you re-order the exact same, it does not have the same record?
It changes every time, with the foam, the icing ... You can never have two identical boards both magic . He boards are magic for a while, but then, with the use, impact, time, she lost in rendering.
Level drifts, you have preferences?
Future purposes , I like the drifts large enough, when supported, it is better now, unless it goes wrong, and it hangs better on curves. I like the drifts in Carbon or carbon-mid, mid-honeycomb. I have a preference for rigid fins.
